Brokenness to Beauty

Dear Reader, I thank you for the desire to read my testimony and to know how God healed my broken life into a beautiful masterpiece. Although we may be friends and have known each other for quite some time, you still might not have heard my testimony. I encourage you all to read through this and be encouraged.

This is Lincy Mary George and I first opened my eyes into this world on March 27,1993 as the

only child of Mr.George Varkey and Mrs.Gracy George. God had blessed me abundantly from the

the day I was born. He gave me wonderful parents, good family background, everything that a person on this earth could ever wish for! But one thing was missing in me—But later on I understood it was for my own good. God does everything with a specific plan and purpose. God does not make mistakes!

My mom although being brought up in a sound Marthoma family, she had a spiritual life which was imbibed into her by one of her college friends and by her grandmother. She used to pray for hours about her future and for others too. God heard her prayers and was according to the will of God married to my dad on Jan 2,1992 into a CSI family. After few months she was diagnosed that she had polycystic ovary and she had no chance of getting conceived unless she undergoes a treatment. My Father who was working as Assistant General Manager in HMT at that time, had to go on a business tour immediately, and hence they postponed the treatment to a week later.

In the spare time, my mom used to listen to many cassettes containing messages by Evangelist

Br.P.G.Vargis and after one of the messages he said like this “All those who have sickness, place your hand in the affected area and I will pray for you”. My mom placed her hands on her abdomen while he prayed. She strongly believed that God can do a miracle and God considered that as righteousness as in Romans 4:3 which says “Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness”.

In the next few days she felt some sort of heaviness in her uterus. After a week when my dad returned ,they went for a checkup and believe it my readers –God did a miracle, when the doctors told my mum that there was no way that you can get conceived, the test results showed that my mom was conceived. The world may say that your life is hopeless and there is no way left for you. Everything may seem meaningless! But our Creator can do miracles in our life—things we cannot even imagine. Jeremiah 29:11 says like this:- “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD.”They are plans for good and not for a disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

Our God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit! Just have faith in Him at all times. He will fulfill all the good desires in your life according to His will. And that was how I was born into this earth.

I was born on the 8th month and hence was a premature baby. Now, you might be curious what I

was lacking! Few days I was in the incubator and after 2-3 days, the nurse who was in charge of her handed me over to my mother. But it was then she disclosed an information to my mother and it

was a shock which she could not bear. And the news was that the baby was permanently

handicapped—I had amputation in my left forearm. Although all the other members of my family

knew this the day I was born, they did not have the courage to convey it to my mother. Reality was more than a bitter shock for her. She restrained herself from facing people, going to church, etc. Many times, when unforeseen troubles come to our lives, we tend to ask God “Why?”. But let me tell you my readers, God can change all “?” (Question marks) into “!”(Exclamation marks).

It was God’s plan and He had a great purpose when He knit me together in my mother’s womb. Even before we were born ,He saw us, He called us by our names. We are not a mistake. He created us and sent us into this world for an amazing purpose. Many a times we become rebellious for the slightest issue in our life, we tend to question God and will tend to cast all the blame on God. But we forget this sole fact that God is perfect in all that He does and does not do mistakes. All the things that happen in our lives are charted in His master plan and He will execute it beautifully through us. We just need to submit our lives before Him and trust His heart.

God opened a door to bring us closer to God, my grandma’s cousin was then going to a pentecostal church and had a strong foundation and faith in God. When she came to know about my mother’s condition, she invited my parents to a prayer/Bible class at her house. Although my parents were a bit reluctant, they finally went. God touched them. They experienced an inner peace which they had not experienced so far. They started going for more fellowships and even to that Pentecostal Church(Church of God Gospel Centre under the leadership of Pr. N.G.Samkutty). One day they decided to obey the LORD’s commandment and they got baptized. God consoled my parents as a mother would comfort her child, they could experience His love in their lives and that strengthened them to move on in life. Although my parents had many questions about my future, they knew that God would take care of me. That is the biggest promise God has given us, He will never leave us nor forsake us. What more do we need?

I was sent to the most prestigious school—The Choice School to do my schooling. God gave me

wonderful teachers and caring friends. Not even a single day, the thought struck me that I was

different from other children. God enabled me to do everything like the other kids. I was an average student till my 4th grade. Studies were my secondary things and my priority was playing around. My mum used to teach me the night before the exams; I went and gave all my exams without taking a glance at my text books. When I was in my 5th grade my mum fell a bit sick and doctors asked her to refrain from taking too much stress. A thought suddenly struck me whether my mum’s stress and anxiety was because of me. I felt ashamed of myself because I never made my parents proud of anything. From then onwards, God gave me the wisdom to study by myself and I started to become an all-rounder; was good in singing, dancing, playing Keyboard, anchoring most of the stage shows and was even a rank-holder—all by His grace and mercy that He showered upon me. Moreover, I was blessed spiritually too. The thought about God’s ministry had always amazed me since my childhood. I was filled with the Holy Spirit at a very young age and obeyed the LORD’s commandment and was baptized when I was 12 years old. Since then God started building me.

After completing 12th grade, I wrote many entrance exams. Since I had not prepared for any entrances well, I was anxious whether I will get an admission in a good college. But there also He did miracles for me, He gave me admissions in most of the reputed colleges in Cochin and I selected CUSAT and got the Engineering stream that I had desired for. There too, I was blessed with good friends. All I desired was to live a faithful life before God, glorifying Him at all times. I wanted the world to see Christ through me. From 1st to last semester, His hand guided me, consoled me and He was a best friend to share all my sorrows, pain, distress, worry. No one in this world can comfort you as God comforts us. Many times I was depressed and broken hearted; I had asked God many times why am I going through so much of problems; why only I had such difficult times in my life because others seemed to lead a much happier life. But later God taught me that He was moulding me to be a powerful instrument for the LORD. Whatever situation may it be, just give it to His hands and He will do the best for you.

At times you may face many questions in your life, your life may seem helpless and hopeless; but

believe in Him, everything comes in our life for our own good. Many times when the storm tossed

over me, I became emotionally weak and I had questioned God “God, why did you give me such a life? Please take me away. I cannot face anything more” .But it was out of my foolishness, later on I realized that He had the most amazing plan for me; much better than what I had for myself. He told me “ your future is safe in my Hands—ninte bhaavi ente karangalil surakshithamanu (Malayalam)” ! What more guarantee should I attain in this life.

He kept His promises and blessed me with a good career, education and most importantly a blessed married life. He has been such a faithful God and granting me all the good desires in my heart. Many plans in our life seem to be right at first, and when we seek God ,He might re-direct us. We might be disappointed why our desires did not take place? Why our dreams and wishes were completely destroyed? But the answer is that God has a better plan for us. He knows what the end is like, while we just see the beginning. He gives us the best. Just trust in Him at all times. Our God is faithful and mighty. --- May God bless you all!
