Exodus 19: 16-18 “On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled. Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the Lord descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain[a] trembled violently.”
Several times, I have wondered how Israelities might have captured the moment when the presence of God came to them in a dense cloud. I desired in my heart to see and experience this shekinah glory of God. But we desire this without realizing the preparation that the Israelities had to go through before God came to their midst. The LORD instructed Moses to tell the people to consecrate themselves, wash their clothes, obey and keep His covenant and abstain from certain things. It wasn’t an easy checklist which was provided. But for a Holy God to come into their midst, these are definitely required. Think about the preparation that we go through when we are planning to meet our company CEO. If we undergo meticulous planning to meet a great person, how much more should we prepare ourselves to meet God Almighty, Who has Heaven as His throne, and the earth as His footstool.
But if we consecrate and empty ourselves of all the filth, anger, envy, and other evil, you will be able to experience this glory of God in your midst. Exodus 19: 9 says “The Lord said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you.””
It’s worth every bit to empty yourself, for God will fill you with His presence and with all goodness. As is said in Psalms 24:9, “Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.” Empty yourself, so that the King of glory may come into your situation. When God enters your situation, He starts changing and transforming destinies. When He touches the casket, the dead rise to life. When He passes by Bethsaida, healings happen. Even when He is in a crowd, supernatural power is being displayed touching the hem of His robe. He is even willing to change His route and come to your house upon your request as in the case with the Centurion (Matt 8)
All you need to do is to consecrate yourself, remove the limitations and boundaries set in your spiritual life hindering its growth. To experience the shekinah glory, empty yourself and allow Him fill you and to transform your life.
