There would have been many times in your life when you feel physically and emotionally weak, financial burdens, worries and anxieties about your future might weigh you down. Life can be unfair and not everything would work as you have expected. There may be times when you stumble and reach a place that seems like a dead end!
But at that dead end, most of us would call upon the name of God. This might have been your story. If so, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. Even the disciples who walked with Jesus, called Him when the storms hit their boat.
Matthew 8: 24 - 25 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
I see this from a perspective that in a way I appreciate the disciples waking up Jesus and depending on Him alone when things got out of their control. But another perspective being, Jesus scolded them because He knew the authority He had given to His disciples and if He was there in their boat, there was NO WAY that they were going to drown.
We may be in a similar situation where the storms of life are hitting hard and tossing our boat (our life). But realize that if you have Jesus in your boat and have Jesus as the captain of your life, you will never drown. You needn’t worry because even the winds and waves obey Him! Can you believe that? He is the Creator and all His creations obey Him.
Build up your faith. For someone who trusts in the LORD, there is HOPE in every HOPELESS situation! It might not be that easy to stay positive when you go through difficult times (frankly speaking). But we can all grow in faith day by day, even if it is by calling on the name of God when things go out of your control. Romans 10:13 says For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” In times of trouble we can be assured of this- “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalms 34:18
But my question to you is: Have you surrendered your life to Jesus and made Him the captain of your life?
As Mark 8: 31 says “Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down.” Invite JESUS into your life and witness how He transforms your circumstances into a blessing!
